A little about me

I’m Ryan, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Kennewick, WA. I have 14+ years of clinical experience working with individuals who want to improve their lives and relationships. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, and I completed my internship at a local free clinic serving community members without insurance.

Before private practice, I spent 11 years supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities, including many with dual mental health diagnoses. I’ve worked in a range of roles, including direct care, residential support, in-home therapy, case management, program director, and mental health counselor.

My approach is strength-based and focused on progress. Therapy isn’t just “problem talk.” I help you build hope, motivation, and practical steps toward change. With couples and families, I pay close attention to interaction patterns and what keeps issues stuck. I work with concerns like anxiety and depression, along with relationship and family challenges such as infidelity, conflict, addiction, mental illness, major transitions, divorce, and parent-child relationships challenges. As a an adoptive father, I also support adoptive family’s through their journey of adoption.

“Ryan was there for me when my wife and I were preparing to get married, he provided us all the tools and counseling to have a successful marriage.”

My services

  • I offer secure online counseling for clients across Washington state, so you can get support from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Telehealth is a great fit for busy schedules and works well for teens, adults, and couples—without the commute or waiting room.

How can therapy help

Therapy can help you gain a clearer understanding of yourself, your goals, and your values while building practical skills to improve your relationships. We’ll focus on the concerns that brought you in and work toward real resolution, not just short-term relief.

Along the way, you can learn healthier ways to cope with stress and anxiety, manage anger, grief, depression, and other emotional pressures, and strengthen your communication and listening so conversations feel more productive.

We’ll also work on changing old behavior patterns, finding new ways to solve problems in your family or marriage, and building self-esteem and confidence that carries into everyday life.

Serving in Kenya

Since 2015, I have had the opportunity to serve in Kenya supporting children, teens, and adults as they walk through real healing. A focus of work in Kenya has been teaching classes to teens on identity development, healthy relationships, healing, in addition to training workers on behavioral health, development, and practical therapeutic strategies for supporting children who’ve been through trauma. This is why I chose the name Amani, it is the Swahili word for PEACE, it represents what I hope people experience through this work—steady support, restored hope, and a path forward.

As part of Amani’s commitment to local and global efforts, our business regularly contributes to Rehema as well as annual trips to teach classes. If you would like to know more about the work this organization is doing in Kenya, please follow the link.
